yes im a newb...and thus a newb question lol
um so yeah, i made my first character, and basically in post-searing i became overwhelmed and lost pretty much alot of my 600 gold which made me quite sad. But hearing of people with alot of money I became curious to how I might one day be like them.
But first thing i learned was that I should know what the stuff they're selling are. SO heres the question....what does a 20/20 thingy mean? and like vampiric string 5:1? whats up with the ratio. Sorry if this has been up before, or sounds totally stupid to you, but yeah i just got the game and i love it. lol. . P.S, it'd be great if you iono, added me to friends? id definitely keep in touch and be a good mentee/gw'er |

20/20 means 20%chance of better skill recharge and 20%chance of better casting rate
5:1 vamp string means a bow string upgrade that gives 5 life steal per hit but a -1 energy degeneration (where your health slowly goes down) And as far as making money goes, just play through the game, go into the Underworld and Fissure to get good drops. I don't know how else to make lots of money. |

Making money....
One of the best ways I've found of making money is to take out with you all the time about 3 or 4 salvage kits + 1 or 2 Expert Salvage and 1 or 2 ID kits. Then, any drops you get which you don't feel are worth keeping or selling to trader/othe players just salvage them. When you have built up a nice store of raw materials - keep an eye on the material trader prices and then sell when the prices go up. Voila - easy money. But one major thing to remember - don't get caught up trying to constantly get money throughout the game. As you're new to the game, above all else you should have fun playing through the quests and missions through the game. |

On a note of what to travel with, I only carry 2 regular salvage kits and 1 identify kit up to Yaks Bend area. The amounts of the salvage out of early level items is not worth the 16gp that the expert salvage kits takes from you per salvage, stick with the 4gp per salvage kits (100gp) till Yaks bend and then it's a good idea to make a list of what you salvage out of certain armors. Some never give up anything worth the expert salvage kit use and there's a website that lists what each armor will give you, I'd suggest locating this and make a copy so you won't waste valuable gold on expert salvages you don't need to.
Once at Yaks bend then carry 1 identify, 1 regular salvage and 1 expert salvage kit with you. Perferably full ones, so if one is pretty certain to deplete on a mission, farming run or whatever, buy an extra one to take it's place. Salvaging while farming allows you to store more items in your inventory and opens more slots up to loot items. Soloing especially will fill up your inventory quickly and you'll end up having to drop items or head back to town. Be sure and get yourelf (2) runes of holding asap, these will add 5 more slots to your bags. They are expensive to some of the newer players 500gp each but, well worth the price in the long term for 10 more items you can pickup along your quests/missions/farming runs. Many people rush out of "pre-searing" and that's one of their biggest mistakes. There's good income in pre-searing and lots of things that can be salvaged for materials you will need for your next armor set. I've spent up to level 8 in pre-searing collecting lots of materials and coin with all my characters. It's the best solo area in the game for new people to the game and everything drops something. I enjoyed farming the catacombs the most. And the crawls. Of course like any other game the futher you get into the game the better the income. So don't expect the get rich quick plan or expect to have everything everyone else has for a good 3 months of hard play. If you're a 14 hour a week average player you're going to make an average income for 14 hours. Of course there are exploits where some players make 1000's of plat an hour, rune hording. dye hording and 105/55 Mo/W builds that exploit solo the underworld and FOW. I hope you are not like those players. If you are then I'm sorry I helped you with this information. |
